The driver of the bus, while trying to avoid a head-on collision, swerved the bus, but it ended up rolling off the road.

A Toyota Fortuner belonging to the County Government of Siaya, which was trailing the bus, was also hit during the incident.

While confirming the accident, Nyanza Regional Traffic boss Peter Maina noted that Bishop Deya was driving the Toyota Noah when the accident happened.

He also noted that several Moi University students sustained serious injuries during the accident and were taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu for treatment.

Other students escaped the accident with minor injuries and were taken to the Kombewa Sub-County Hospital in Seme.

Moreover, the body of the Bishop was taken to the Kombewa Sub-County Hospital morgue.

Bishop Deya came to the limelight in the early 2000s through the controversial ‘miracle babies’ saga.
