Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, extending their remarkable record of winning their opening match in the competition.
Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock two minutes after half-time before Harry Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage in the 60th minute.
Alphonso Davies added a third before Michael Olise scored twice late in the match to complete the rout.
Bayern had been frustrated during the opening half but took control after the break as Musiala’s goal opened the floodgates.
Kane’s goal was his 34th in 39 Champions League appearances for Bayern, according to Reuters, underlining his continued scoring record in Europe’s top club competition.
The victory means Bayern have now won their opening Champions League match in each of their last 23 campaigns.
For Bodo/Glimt, the defeat marked a difficult start to their league-phase campaign against the six-time European champions.
Bayern will now look to build on the emphatic result as the league phase continues.
