Barcelona Staged a Dramatic Comeback to Beat Celta Vigo

LaLiga leaders Barcelona staged an impressive comeback to defeat Celta Vigo 4-3 in a thrilling match.

The game was tied at 3-3 after Celta’s Borja Iglesias completed a hat-trick. Barcelona seemed set for a draw until Dani Olmo won a penalty deep into injury time, allowing Raphinha to step up and secure the three points with a well-placed shot.

Barcelona opened the scoring when Ferran Torres picked up the ball in midfield and found space to dribble toward the goal. He fired a shot from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Vicente Guaita for his tenth league goal of the season.

However, Celta quickly responded. Pablo Duran delivered an excellent cross from the wing, and Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny sprinted off his line but failed to collect the ball, allowing Iglesias to tap it into an empty net.

Barcelona fell behind just seven minutes into the second half when Frenkie de Jong made an error, misjudging a long ball. This mistake allowed Iglesias to run through and score his second goal, putting Celta ahead.

As Barcelona pushed for an equalizer, a Celta clearance found Iglesias once again. He took advantage of Barcelona’s high defensive line, sprinted through on goal, and scored his third, completing his hat-trick.

Stunned by the score, Barcelona responded quickly. In the 64th minute, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha combined to set up Olmo, who scored just five minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Four minutes later, the score was level at 3-3. Lamine Yamal delivered a cross into the six-yard box, where Raphinha outjumped Celta’s defense to head the ball into the net.

Celta, looking to secure a draw, were left shocked when Olmo was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty after a VAR review. Raphinha confidently stepped up and blasted the ball into the top corner in the 98th minute for his 30th goal across all competitions this season.

This victory extends Barcelona’s lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table to seven points.

This result increases the pressure on Real Madrid, who face fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Celta Vigo remains in seventh place with 43 points.
