Barcelona maintained a four-point lead over rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Real Betis.
Hansi Flick’s team will feel disappointment, as their dominant performance did not result in a victory, marking the end of their seven-match winning streak in all competitions against a well-disciplined Betis side.
Barcelona took the lead in the seventh minute, thanks to a brilliant sequence of one-touch football that set up midfielder Gavi. The 20-year-old calmly finished from a tight angle.
However, Betis equalized just ten minutes later when defender Natan headed in a corner taken by Giovani Lo Celso.
Barcelona’s best chance to regain the lead came from full-back Jules Kounde, whose close-range shot on his weaker foot was saved by Betis goalkeeper Adrian midway through the second half.
The draw also ended Betis’s own four-match winning streak, as their in-form forwards, Cucho Hernandez and Manchester United loanee Antony, were unable to score.
Barcelona will next host Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
