Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has revealed that he has spent close to KSh 70 million on the medical care of DJ Evolve following the shooting incident that left the entertainer paralysed.
Speaking on Monday, May 4, the legislator said he made a conscious decision to take responsibility for the situation and has since continued to support the victim’s treatment and related medical needs over the years.
He noted that his approach has been guided by what he described as restorative justice, aimed at supporting recovery rather than focusing solely on punishment.

Babu further disclosed that the financial commitment has been substantial, adding that he has at times had to borrow funds in order to sustain the ongoing medical expenses.
DJ Evolve is reported to have made significant progress in his recovery and is now able to speak and eat normally, according to Owino.
The legislator moreover disclosed that the entertainer is still undergoing physiotherapy, which remains the final stage of his rehabilitation before regaining full mobility.
Babu also confirmed that he was acquitted in 2023 after a court found that the prosecution failed to prove its case against him over the 2020 shooting incident at B Club.
DJ Evolve, who testified during the proceedings, told the court he did not recall the circumstances of the incident but acknowledged receiving ongoing medical and financial support, while Babu stated he had spent millions on treatment, accommodation, and care services, including hiring medical personnel to assist in his recovery.
