Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has broken silence over a viral photo of him and President Ruto’s son Nick Ruto at a nightclub.
In a statement, Babu clarified that the photo with the President’s son was not recent.
The lawmaker moreover explained that the viral photo with Nick was taken in 2018.

According to Babu, he has been sober for five years, with his last alcohol drink taken on January 17, 2020.
“Let me clarify this for the record. The last time I drank alcohol was on the 17th January 2020. The photo below was taken in 2018. I have been sober for the past 5 years. I will transform the lives of Nairobians and Kenyans the way I transformed my Life,” Babu noted.
The clarification comes after social media users questioned why Babu, known for his criticism of President Ruto, was spotted in the company of his son.
It also coincides with growing uncertainty over the Embakasi East MP’s political future within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
On August 29, Babu remarked that he does not require a party ticket to vie for office, insisting that his personal brand outweighs that of most political parties in Kenya.
