Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has rejected circulating reports suggesting he has abandoned his Nairobi gubernatorial ambitions.
Posting on his Facebook account on Wednesday, January 7, Babu described the claims as false and urged his supporters to ignore the misinformation, which he attributed to political opponents.
The misleading digital cards, which displayed the logos of local TV stations, falsely stated that the ODM lawmaker had redirected his gubernatorial bid from Nairobi to Kisumu County.

Babu Owino is targeting the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election, aiming to succeed Governor Johnson Sakaja.
Other politicians who have declared their ambitions for Nairobi governor include Moses Kuria, Makadara MP George Aladwa, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, and Irungu Nyakera.
Previously, Babu expressed concerns that ODM might block his bid for the party’s nomination, citing recent political developments as a challenge.
However, ODM Party leader Oburu Oginga has assured him of the party ticket if he wins the nominations, emphasizing that there is no reason for him to be denied the opportunity.
In December 2025, Gachagua extended an invitation to both Babu and Edwin Sifuna to join his DCP party ahead of the 2027 elections, offering alternative political platforms should they feel sidelined.
