Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has dismissed claims that he is planning to defect from the ODM party following his recent interactions with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking on Wednesday morning during an interview on Radio Citizen, Babu clarified that his relationship with the former Vice President is personal, not political.
He questioned why he was being branded a rebel for maintaining communication with Kalonzo, whom he described as his Azimio coalition principal.

The legislator further emphasized that engaging with political allies should not be misconstrued, insisting there was nothing unusual about his association with the Wiper Party leader.
His clarification comes days after he formally endorsed the Wiper party leader as the best bet to unseat President Ruto in the 2027 General Elections.
Addressing a rally on September 29, the lawmaker commended Kalonzo for his resilience in supporting the former Prime Minister during the last elections despite not being named as the running mate.
Calling on Kenyans to rally for change in 2027, the MP drew a comparison to the 2020 U.S. elections, when Americans turned out in record numbers to vote President Donald Trump out of office.
