Albert Ojwang’s Family Denies Receiving Ksh10 Million in Donations

Albert Ojwang’s family has denied reports of raising Ksh10 million in donations from Kenyans.

The family, through their lawyer, Julius Juma, stated that they received Ksh5 million from Kenyans and leaders who made contributions.

According to the family, Ksh2 million was donated by President Ruto and another Ksh2 million was raised from Kenyans.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga donated Ksh1 million.

“It has been said on some media channels that the family received Ksh10 million. I have been asked to set the record straight. The family did not receive Ksh10 million. The family wishes to confirm that they received Ksh2 million from the Head of State, Ksh1 million from Raila Odinga, and Ksh2 million from Kenyans. This totaled Ksh5,060,000,” the lawyer clarified.

The lawyers moreover thanked Kenyans for supporting the family through the donations.

The late Ojwang was killed in June while in custody at the Central Police Station Nairobi following his arrest in Homa Bay County.

He had been arrested after a complaint that was filed by DIG Eliud Lagat over social media posts that he had made.

Following an uproar from Kenyans, IPOA investigated the matter and arrested 6 individuals, including OCS Samson Taalam.
