President William Ruto has officially opened Kenya’s 10th immigration office in Garissa.

This marks the third application center to be opened by the Head of State after Kericho and Bungoma and comes as a relief to the residents of Garissa.

Other passport application centers are located in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Embu, Eldoret and Kisii.

The new immigration office will save on travel and time expenses for Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Lamu, Kitui and Isiolo counties.

It will also provide job opportunities not only to locals but also fast-tracked passport applications for those pursuing foreign job opportunities.

During the launching, PS Bitok stated that the reopening of the immigration office and the elimination of vetting for national ID cards applicants for residence of border countries will promote fairness and equality.

Yesterday in Wajir, the President signed a proclamation vacating vetting for ID cards in Northeastern region and other border counties. With the new immigration office in Garissa, we believe eligible applicants will flock in big numbers to apply for passports and other services.
