Detectives from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested Governor Hillary Barchok due to corruption charges.
The Bomet governor was arrested on Thursday 6th February 2025 at his home in Bomet County.
According to reports, Barchok was arrested for alleged embezzling funds in November 2024.
This followed an ongoing investigation that involves conflict of interest and public fund theft in Bomet County.

The operation is part of ongoing investigations into allegations of conflict of interest and theft of public funds in Bomet County, where the Governor is a suspect.
The EACC stated.
The lawmakers of Bomet County had called for Barchok’s arrest over alleged corruption and misappropriation of funds.
The Bomet MPs cited the mismanagement of various hospitals in the County, a case that allegedly led to the death of a three-year-old patient due to negligence.
Apart from that, Bomet has been under investigation by EACC over alleged fraud payments amounting to Ksh. 1.2 billion and improper procurement of road construction equipment worth ksh. 373 million.
The Governor is set to be escorted to the EACC South Rift Regional Offices in Nakuru for a statement recording.
