Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, his deputy governor Charles Ngome and a County official might lose 50 million if they admit liability to defaming Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.

The case filed by the Kimilili MP accused the three of allegations of murder and mismanagement of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) against the legislator.

The lawsuit was filed through Barasa’s lawyer Danstan Omari.

Our Client (Barasa) believes you are angered and against our client’s future political development plans for people of Bungoma County. To our client, you appear to be hellbent on edging him out of future political races in Bungoma county.

Part of the lawsuit read.

The lawsuit featured Wangamati for accusing Barasa of mishandling County funds and terming him a liar.

If today you cannot manage Kimilili Constituency which is managed from Nairobi, if you cannot manage a constituency, can you manage a County?

Former Governor Wangamati said.

Ngome was also featured in the lawsuit for saying that Barasa is not fit to hold a gubernatorial position if he has failed to manage Kimilili Constituency and accusing him of being a murderer.

Their Co-accused KNUT secretary General (Bungoma Branch) Chrispinus Sifuna said that when NGC-CDF funds were disbursed to the County, Barasa would use it to construct high-rise buildings.

Barasa now says that his political future has been ruined and will debilitate his chances to vie for any elective seat.

The accused have been given 7 days to refute the allegations.
