The changes were made by the Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints Noah Midamba (Prof.) to be the Chairperson of the Council of Moi University for a period of three years.

The gazette notice stated.

This move came after CS Ogamba visited Moi University and appointed the committee to look into the challenges at Moi University and come up with solutions to the challenges.

Moi University staff members had issued a fresh strike since the Moi University former council had failed to uphold its part of the return-to-work formula including paying their December salary.
