Ex-Tana River County Officials Arrested in Ksh. 9M Tender Fraud Case

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested eight former Tana River County officials.

The former County officials were arrested on Thursday 16th January 2024 in the evening.

They had allegedly awarded an irregular tender of Ksh. 9million.

The suspects included Former County Chief Officer for Public Service Fatuma Azra, Former Principal Supply Chain Management Officer Abashora Swaleh Salad, Building Inspector with the Department of Public Works Ali Dhidha Hussein and Former supply Management officer Isaa Funani Bere.

The other officials included Mohamed Natse, Kevin Simiyu Wafula, Fatuma Napasha Hussein Electro, Al-Karim Agencies one of the companies that had been contracted to fence the wildlife offices and staff quarters in Hola town.

The suspect among 14 individuals implicated in the case will be arraigned in court at the Hola Chief Magistrate Court on Friday as others in hiding are still being searched for and urged to surrender to relevant authorities.

The suspects will be charged with five offences which will include engaging in a project without prior planning, fraudulent practices in procurement, forgery, conspiracy and failure to comply with procurement laws.
