Kipkenyo Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), David Kimele Leting, on January 11, hosted a ceremony inviting his ward residents to celebrate scoring a mean grade of D- (Minus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2024.

The MCA was among the 962,512 candidates who sat for the recently released KCSE examinations after registering as a private candidate.

Leting revealed that he had not attended any classes and had instead sat for the examination for the sake of attaining a KCSE certificate, thus the excitement for the D Minus.

“I am ahead of over 480 candidates who have already wasted 15 years to go to school. I have never gone to any school, even tuition,” he noted.

According to the MCA, he expected to score an E, so it was necessary to have the celebratory city.

His results shared with the media consist of 4 Es in Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry, and English and two D minus in Kiswahili and Christian Religious Education.

Moreover, his best-performing subject was Biology in which he scored a surprising C minus.

“In Biochemistry, I scored C minus and nobody here received C minus because studies are very difficult. When I saw that Kiswahili was not bad, I told myself I would get an E Plus but many told me that that was not an available grade but I put in more effort and was so proud of scoring D minus.”

In 2020 Leting sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and scored 150 marks out of 500.

His results inspired him to take his education further, leading to the momentous results that he now believes have given him job security.
