The Directorate of Criminal Investigations have explained that the 27-year-old John Muthoni Muchiri was killed by a mob justice and not abducted.
He was reported missing on Friday, 3rd January 2024 and later on found dead by the roadside in the Milimani Kawaida area of Banana Kiambaa, Kiambu County.
According to investigations, the deceased along with several accomplices had scaled the perimeter wall nearby rental property with the intent to commit theft.

Witnesses reported hearing them walking on the iron sheet and tampering with the WI-FI network receiver installed there.
Upon noticing intruders, there was raised alarms prompting the suspects to flee by jumping off the roof in different directions.
Further investigations confirmed that the property residents had previously been victims of multiple break-ins and burglaries.
According to the DCI, the case had previously been categorized as an abduction case but after subsequent investigations they clarified it was a mob justice.
The body of Muchiri is currently at the Kihara Level IV Hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
