KRA Surpasses October Revenue Target, Collects Ksh1.01 Trillion

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a strong revenue collection performance for October 2026, surpassing its monthly target and crossing the Ksh1 trillion mark in cumulative collections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 5, the tax authority reported collecting Ksh1.01 trillion, exceeding the milestone by Ksh10 billion.

KRA noted that it reached the threshold a month earlier than in previous financial years.

The authority collected Ksh260.630 billion in October against a target of Ksh258.304 billion, representing a surplus of Ksh2.326 billion and a 15.5 per cent increase compared to the same period in the 2025/26 financial year.

KRA Customs recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue collection, bringing in Ksh94.793 billion. The figure represented an 11.3 per cent increase from the corresponding period in the previous financial year.

Domestic revenue collection also exceeded expectations, with KRA collecting Ksh165.447 billion against a target of Ksh164.070 billion. This translated into a surplus of Ksh1.377 billion and an 18.1 per cent year-on-year growth.

The authority attributed the domestic revenue performance to above-target collections from several tax categories, including Domestic Value Added Tax (VAT), Domestic Excise Duty, Corporation Tax, Individual Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duty.

KRA collected Ksh23.9 billion in Corporation Tax and Ksh33.367 billion in Domestic VAT.

Domestic Excise Duty also surpassed its target for the first time in a long period, recording a surplus of Ksh945 million and growth of 54.1 per cent.

The authority attributed the increase to higher remittances from manufacturers of keg beer, premium beer, wine, spirits and tobacco, which recorded growth of 0.3 per cent, 43.5 per cent, 110.8 per cent and 94.1 per cent, respectively.

KRA thanked taxpayers for meeting their obligations, noting that their contributions support Kenya’s economic sustainability and development.
