A multi-agency security operation in Tana River County has led to the arrest of 17 suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang known as the Kayole Gang.
The operation, conducted in Madogo and Mororo towns, targeted the gang, which has been accused of terrorising residents in the area.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the crackdown also uncovered a suspected drug-peddling den, where officers recovered suspected narcotic substances and an assortment of crude weapons.

The 17 suspects were detained at a police station as they await arraignment in court. The recovered drugs and weapons were secured as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and possible prosecution.
The NPS said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to restore law and order and dismantle criminal networks across the country.
The police service reaffirmed its commitment to conducting intelligence-led and targeted operations in collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public to eliminate criminal elements from communities.
The NPS also commended the multi-agency teams and members of the public for their cooperation in the operation.
