Former Inooro FM presenter Waithira Muithirania has defected from the Jubilee Party to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua welcomed Muithirania to the party on Wednesday, November 4, at his Wamunyoro residence.
Gachagua said the veteran media personality intends to contest the Murang’a County Woman Representative seat on a DCP ticket.

Muithirania previously vied for the position in the 2022 General Election, where she finished second after garnering more than 100,000 votes.
The former Deputy President assured her that the party would conduct free and fair nominations, adding that she should begin mobilising supporters and recruiting new members ahead of the polls.
Gachagua also urged Muithirania to prepare for the party’s nomination exercise scheduled for March 2027.
Her defection adds to the political realignments taking place ahead of the next General Election, as parties seek to strengthen their support bases and attract aspirants for elective positions.
