MoH Urges Workplace Vigilance in New Ebola Safety Guidelines

The Ministry of Health has issued fresh workplace guidelines urging Kenyan employers and employees to take precautions against the spread of Ebola as the country continues monitoring an outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the ministry said workplaces had a responsibility to protect staff, customers and surrounding communities through awareness and preventive measures.

“A safe workplace starts with informed employees and responsible action. Ebola is a serious disease, but workplaces can help prevent its spread through awareness, early reporting, proper hand hygiene and adherence to Ministry of Health guidance,” the Ministry stated.

The ministry further emphasised proper handwashing, early reporting of suspected infections and compliance with official health instructions as important measures for reducing the risk of transmission.

Those who develop symptoms or suspect exposure to Ebola have been advised to avoid direct contact with others and seek immediate guidance by calling 719, dialling *719# or sending a WhatsApp message through 0700 719 719.
