Everton Beat Newcastle Again as Barry Strike Deepens Magpies’ Crisis

Everton defeated Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park on Monday night, November 2, securing their first away Premier League victory of the season and recording a second win over the Magpies in four days.

The decisive goal arrived in the 49th minute when Thierno Barry capitalised on a goalkeeping error by Newcastle’s Lukas Hornicek.

Tyrique George had released a low shot that slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands, allowing Barry to score from close range.

Everton had created several opportunities during the first half, with Barry and Harrison Armstrong both missing chances to put the visitors ahead.

Their attacking pressure eventually paid off shortly after the interval.

Newcastle struggled to respond and came close to equalising when Anthony Elanga struck the post in the 66th minute.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also made an important late save to deny substitute Yoane Wissa.

Newcastle’s frustration increased in stoppage time when substitute Jacob Ramsey received two yellow cards within 86 seconds and was sent off.

The home supporters expressed their disappointment as the team suffered another defeat following Thursday’s 3-1 League Cup loss to Everton.

The victory lifted Everton above Newcastle into seventh place in the Premier League standings.

Newcastle, meanwhile, faced renewed questions about their performances under manager Matthias Jaissle after losing four of their last five matches in all competitions.
