United Opposition Leaders Rally Behind Sifuna During Linda Mwananchi Launch

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has joined other United Opposition leaders in supporting Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) headquarters in Nairobi.

In photos shared by Gachagua on Friday, October 30, the former Deputy President was accompanied by Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa at the event held in Lavington.

Gachagua said the launch aligned with the United Opposition’s political plans ahead of the 2027 General Election. He also congratulated Sifuna and his team on establishing the movement’s headquarters.

Kalonzo also congratulated Sifuna, describing the launch as an important milestone in the opposition’s efforts to build a united political front and pursue political change in the country.

During the event, Sifuna reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for a government that upholds constitutionalism and the rule of law.

The Nairobi Senator also criticised the current direction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), arguing that the party had lost much of its former strength following the departure of some of its members.

He maintained that his exit from ODM had influenced other members to leave the party, claiming that those who understood the late Raila Odinga’s political vision had chosen to follow his political path.

Sifuna launched the movement’s headquarters days after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal ruled that the LINDA party had failed to complete its registration within the required 90-day period despite reserving the name Linda.
