Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has given President William Ruto 14 days to make public the agreement governing the Dangote oil refinery project in Lamu.
Speaking on Monday, October 5, the People Party leader argued that Kenyans have a right to access information concerning the project and its ownership structure.
Nyoro also demanded the disclosure of the refinery’s shareholder register and the investment agreement entered into for the project.

He warned that he would release the agreement himself if the President fails to make it public within the 14-day period.
The lawmaker’s demands come a day after Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna called on the Senate Energy Committee to obtain and disclose records relating to the construction of the Dangote refinery.
In a statement dated Friday, October 2, Sifuna argued that the project should comply with constitutional principles, including transparency, accountability and public participation.
The Nairobi Senator urged the committee to obtain all records concerning the refinery project in Lamu in line with Article 35(3) of the Constitution, which provides for access to information held by the State.
Sifuna further demanded details of the public participation process conducted before the project was approved, including concerns raised by communities affected by the development.
He also called for the disclosure of the project’s financing and implementation model, including any funds that could be allocated from taxpayers’ money.
The Senator further sought a value-for-money assessment of any investment made in the project on behalf of Kenyan taxpayers.
Sifuna also demanded a list of the beneficial owners of the refinery project and the companies involved in its implementation.
The Dangote refinery, which is projected to process up to 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day, was launched in Lamu on September 30.
