The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has unveiled 20 more Police Clearance Certificate application centres to its new biometric identification system.
This brings the total number of connected centres to 26 countrywide.
According to reports by DCI, the latest expansion covers centres in the Central Region and neighbouring areas as the DCI moves to extend the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS) beyond Nairobi.
The newly connected centres include Kajiado Central, Kajiado West-Kisamis, Machakos, Thika, Kamwangi, Murangโa, Nyeri, Nyandarua-Ol Kalou, Nanyuki, Laikipia East-Makutano and Samburu-Maralal.
The DCI said the latest rollout marks the completion of Phase Two of the nationwide deployment of MBIS, which uses ABIS Version 5 to modernise criminal records management and Police Clearance Certificate services.
The 20 centres join six facilities in Nairobi that had previously been connected to the system, leaving 37 of the 63 PCC application centres yet to be integrated.
According to the authority, the rollout is part of a plan to eventually connect all operational Huduma Centres, allowing more applicants to access modernised biometric identification and PCC processing services closer to their locations.
