Heavy traffic has been reported along the Mai Mahiu Escarpment Road after a crash involving two trucks and a private car partially blocked the busy highway on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
According to reports by the Long Distance Driver and Conductors and Drivers, the incident left one of the trucks completely blocking the road.
The crash has caused major delays as motorists struggle to pass through the affected section.
“JUST IN: ACCIDENT ALERT There has been an accident along the Mai Mahiu escarpment involving 2 trucks and a private vehicle. One of the trucks has completely blocked the road,” the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association said.
In response to the matter, the association warned motorists about the crash involving the two trucks and a private car, saying one truck had completely blocked the road.
The incident has affected traffic along the A8 South Rironi-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Road, which is an important route linking Nairobi to the Rift Valley and western Kenya. The road also connects to the Mai Mahiu-Narok Road.
Motorists using private vehicles have been advised to consider alternative routes as traffic continues to build up along the Mai Mahiu Escarpment. One option is the Nairobi-Kinangop-Naivasha route through the Old Nakuru Highway, Limuru, Kimende and Njabini.
