The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the fatal shooting of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of July 29 in the Upper Hill area of Nairobi.
According to the authority, Dr Mutiso was shot in unclear circumstances in what seems like a targeted attack, barely a year after a similar attack resulted in the death of Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were.
In a statement, DCI said preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had requested an online taxi service when she sustained fatal gunshot injuries under unclear circumstances.
According to reports, Mutiso was gunned down after a gunman on a motorbike opened fire on the taxi she was travelling in.
“Immediately upon receiving the report, police officers, supported by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) detectives, promptly visited, secured and processed the scene. Relevant forensic exhibits were recovered and documented for analysis, while witnesses were interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation,” the DCI said.
“Detectives also visited the medical facility where the victim had been taken”, the authority added.
