Kenyan middle-distance queen Faith Kipyegon will be aiming to return to winning ways when she lines up at the London Diamond League on Saturday as she continues her preparations for the World Athletics Championships later this year.
The three-time Olympic champion heads into the prestigious meeting looking to build momentum after her recent outing at the Monaco Diamond League, where she competed in the women’s 3,000 metres.
Kipyegon finished fourth in a high-quality race won by fellow Kenyan Agnes Jebet Ngetich, who produced a world-leading performance.

Kipyegon had returned to Monaco, the venue where she set the women’s mile world record in 2023, using the race as part of her preparations after revealing she had been managing a hamstring injury earlier in the season.
The 31-year-old remains one of Kenya’s brightest medal hopes and is expected to feature in her preferred 1,500 metres in London, where she will once again face a world-class field.
The meeting provides another opportunity for the multiple world champion to fine-tune her form ahead of the global championships.
Kipyegon has enjoyed one of the greatest careers in women’s middle-distance running, winning multiple Olympic and world titles while holding the women’s world record in the 1,500 metres and the mile.
Her consistency over the past decade has established her as one of the finest athletes in Kenya’s history.
With the World Athletics Championships fast approaching, Kenyan fans will be hoping Kipyegon can deliver another commanding performance in London as she bids to reinforce her status as the favourite for yet another global title.
