Detectives from Kasarani Police Station have recovered 200 assorted mobile phones suspected to have been stolen following an intelligence-led operation in Viken Thirty Village.

The recovered devices comprised 120 mobile phones that were still intact and 80 others that had been dismantled, raising suspicions that the location may have been used to conceal or strip stolen phones.

Following the recovery, detectives from the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit processed the scene and collected evidence to support ongoing investigations.

The mobile phones were later transported to the National Police Service Forensic Laboratory (NPFSL), where officers from the Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Unit are expected to carry out forensic examinations.

The forensic analysis is intended to establish the ownership of the recovered devices and facilitate their return to their rightful owners where possible.

Meanwhile, the DCI said investigations are ongoing as detectives pursue intelligence leads aimed at identifying and arresting individuals believed to be behind the suspected phone theft syndicate.

The recovery comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks involved in mobile phone theft and trafficking, with authorities urging members of the public to report suspicious activities that could assist ongoing investigations.
