A Court of Appeal Judge has been linked to a missing gun that was recovered from a robbery suspect shot dead by police in Machakos County.
According to reports, the Beretta pistol had reportedly gone missing from the judge’s heavily secured home in Kitusuru without his knowledge for months.
Reports indicate that detectives only alerted him to its disappearance after the weapon surfaced following a deadly shootout in Joska on Monday, July 13.
He told police the last time he physically checked on the pistol was back in October 2025, when he intended to renew its licence.

“He further stated that the last time he physically checked it was in October 2025, when he intended to renew his firearm licence. However, he later forgot to complete the renewal process,” he said.
However, the renewal process was never completed, and the weapon’s whereabouts remained unclear until investigators came calling.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers said the pistol was later used by armed criminals during a violent robbery at a popular restaurant in Spring Valley, Westlands.
The attack reportedly unfolded at Chaiiwali restaurant along General Mathenge Road on July 4, when masked gunmen stormed in and terrorised diners inside.
Surveillance footage of the raid quickly went viral online, sparking public outrage and pushing detectives to launch an urgent manhunt for the culprits.
