Several classrooms and the administration block at Jomo Kenyatta Boys High School in Nakuru County were destroyed after a fire broke out at the institution on the night of Sunday, July 12.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki expressed concern over the incident, saying the blaze caused extensive damage to the school’s infrastructure.
The legislator, however, confirmed that all students, teachers and support staff were safe, with no injuries reported.

Njoki commended teachers, members of the local community and firefighters for their swift response, noting that their efforts helped contain the blaze and prevent further destruction.
She also urged security agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the incident and take appropriate action against anyone found responsible.
The MP further expressed solidarity with the school community as it begins recovery efforts.
Preliminary reports indicate that the fire may have been deliberately started, although investigations are still ongoing.
The incident comes barely a day after Chianda Boys High School was closed indefinitely following a dormitory fire on the night of Friday, July 10.
No students were injured in the Chianda Boys incident. Following directives from the Ministry of Education, the school released all learners to their parents and guardians as investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
