Peter Salasya Breaks Silence on Harriet Njenga’s Exit, Asks Her to Reconsider

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has appealed to his social media manager, Harriet Njenga, to reconsider her decision to resign, praising her contribution to his media team and offering her improved employment terms.

In a statement shared on Sunday, July 12, Salasya revealed that he was surprised to learn of Njenga’s resignation through a social media post, describing her as an integral member of his communications team over the past three years.

The lawmaker credited Njenga with playing a key role in building and growing both Salasya TV and his personal brand across various digital platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X.

According to Salasya, her creativity, dedication and professionalism significantly strengthened his online presence and communication strategy. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the wider media team, including Oliver Ouma Barasa, Peter Sydney and Kevin Serveen.

Salasya also addressed an incident during a recent live radio interview in which presenter Tony Mwirigi raised questions about an alleged personal relationship between him and Njenga.

The MP described the question as inappropriate, saying it should not have been raised during the interview. He apologised to Njenga for any discomfort the remarks may have caused, adding that he chose not to escalate the matter out of respect for the nature of live media engagements.

In a bid to retain her services, Salasya invited Njenga to report to his office on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m., where he said his Personal Assistant had prepared a revised employment contract.

The new offer, he disclosed, includes a salary increment and improved allowances in recognition of her dedication and contribution to his media operations.

Salasya noted that the two had spent years travelling across the country while building his communication strategy and digital presence, adding that her expertise had been instrumental to that journey.

He expressed hope that they would continue working together, thanking her for what he described as her outstanding service, loyalty and commitment.

Njenga had earlier announced her resignation, saying she had chosen to step down in order to pursue new opportunities. She explained that the decision had not been made lightly but was what she believed to be the best move for her personal and professional growth.

She served as Salasya’s social media manager and a member of the Salasya TV team after joining on December 20, 2024.

During her tenure, Njenga was responsible for managing the MP’s online presence, creating digital content, covering events and representing the Salasya brand across multiple social media platforms.
