MP Caleb Amisi Takes Swipe at Kang’ata Over Linda Mwananchi Entry

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has welcomed Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata to the Linda Mwananchi movement but cautioned him against attempting to take control of the political outfit.

In a statement shared on Friday, July 10, Amisi said the movement remained under the stewardship of its founding members, insisting that its leadership would not be taken over by newcomers.

While acknowledging that more leaders joining the movement was a positive development, the legislator warned that Kang’ata and his allies should not use Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to advance their political interests.

Amisi also dismissed suggestions that the movement required financial backing from Kang’ata, saying its activities would be funded by ordinary Kenyans.

The Saboti MP further took a swipe at the Murang’a governor over his previous association with President William Ruto and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), claiming Kang’ata had only recently distanced himself from the Kenya Kwanza administration.

According to Amisi, leaders joining the movement should embrace its ideals rather than seek to influence its direction for personal political gain.

He maintained that the Linda Mwananchi movement would remain focused on its founding objectives, adding that Kenya required political renewal and reforms.
