Murkomen Vows Action Against Perpetrators of All Saints Cathedral Disruption

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured Kenyans that security agencies are actively pursuing individuals linked to the recent disruption at All Saints Cathedral and that those responsible will face the law.

Speaking during a Sunday service and Golden Jubilee celebrations at AIC Plainsview Church in Nairobi, Murkomen described the rise of organised groups involved in violent disruptions as an emerging security challenge that requires a coordinated response from law enforcement agencies.

The CS noted that several suspects have already been arrested in connection with the incident, while investigations remain ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have participated in the attack.

Murkomen further revealed that the government is implementing measures aimed at strengthening security within Nairobi and its surrounding metropolitan region.

Among the initiatives is the establishment of the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit, which is expected to enhance coordination among security agencies and improve responses to public order incidents.

The government also plans to leverage modern technology to support surveillance, investigations and crime prevention efforts.

His remarks come in the wake of an incident at All Saints Cathedral, where a group of individuals reportedly stormed the church premises and disrupted a post-budget conference attended by representatives of various civil society organisations.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers responded promptly after receiving reports of the disturbance.

Police managed to restore order at the venue and secure the premises, preventing further escalation of the situation.

Authorities confirmed that detectives have launched investigations into the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify additional suspects.

Two individuals have already been arrested as part of the ongoing probe.

Reports indicate that the group forced its way into the church compound after confronting security personnel stationed at the entrance.

The individuals are alleged to have disrupted proceedings, damaged materials and assaulted some participants before police intervened and dispersed them.

The National Police Service has reiterated its commitment to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation and has appealed to members of the public to share any information that could assist in identifying those involved.
