Callum Wilson has hinted that his time at West Ham United could be coming to an end after posting an emotional message on social media following the conclusion of the season.
The 34 year old striker joined West Ham from Newcastle United on a one year contract last summer as the club sought to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the premier league campaign.
However, Wilson struggled for regular playing time throughout the season making only 11 starts in the Premier League despite scoring seven league goals for the Hammers.
In a message shared on Instagram, the former England international suggested that he could have contributed more to the team had he been given more opportunities on the pitch.
“I felt really good and positive coming into this season and I believe I could have contributed more given the opportunity,” Wilson stated.
“As you could see, my time on the pitch was very limited at times but that was out of my control,” he added.
Wilson’s comments have now fuelled speculation that the experienced striker may leave West Ham at the end of his contract this summer.
The striker joined West Ham after several successful seasons at Newcastle where he became one of the club’s important attacking players helping the team qualify for European competitions.
Before his move to Newcastle, Wilson also enjoyed a successful spell at AFC Bournemouth where he established himself as one of the premier league’s reliable strikers.
Despite limited starts at West Ham this season, Wilson still managed to score important goals and provided experience within the squad especially during difficult periods of the campaign.

West Ham endured a challenging season struggling for consistency in the premier league while also dealing with pressure from supporters over performances and results.
Wilson’s future now remains uncertain with reports suggesting several clubs could be interested in signing the veteran striker during the summer transfer window.
West Ham are yet to officially comment on Wilson’s future or whether the club intends to offer him a contract extension beyond this season.
Meanwhile, fans reacted differently to Wilson’s message online with some supporters praising his professionalism while others expressed disappointment that the striker was not given more opportunities to start matches.
