Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Wednesday, May 20, held a high-level political meeting with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other senior leaders drawn mainly from Western Kenya.
The meeting brought together a number of influential political figures, including Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga, Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, and Funyula MP Wilberforce Oundo.
The engagement is understood to be part of ongoing consultations among leaders seeking to align on governance priorities and broader political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Following the meeting, Governor Natembeya said the discussions centered on unity of purpose, strengthening service delivery, and advancing the interests of Kenyan citizens across different regions.
He emphasized that leadership must remain focused on improving the lives of wananchi through coordinated efforts and shared responsibility among elected leaders.
Natembeya further noted that meaningful progress in governance and development can only be achieved when leaders come together with clarity of vision, mutual respect, and a common understanding of national priorities.
He added that collaboration among leaders is essential in addressing challenges facing citizens at both county and national levels.
The meeting also comes at a time when political realignments are taking shape, with several formations engaging in consultations and consolidating support bases ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The gathering has drawn attention due to the growing political engagements involving key opposition-aligned figures.
In recent weeks, the Sifuna-led “Linda Mwananchi” political movement has gained visibility, bringing together a mix of governors, senators, and members of parliament.
The formation is increasingly being viewed as part of broader shifts within the opposition landscape, as leaders position themselves for future political contests.
Observers note that such engagements may signal early groundwork for alliances or policy alignment ahead of the 2027 polls, as leaders seek to strengthen their influence and expand their political reach across regions.
