Fresh Developments Emerge in Murder Case of Reverend Julius Ndumia

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued a fresh update on investigations into the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari, who was killed on Sunday, May 3, at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 12, the DCI said detectives have linked the killing to a notorious criminal gang believed to have been operating across Nakuru County and neighbouring areas.

According to investigators, the suspects are associated with a gang first profiled in 2022 and linked to a series of violent armed robberies carried out using firearms and disguises resembling security forces uniforms.

The agency further revealed that the gang had allegedly been using an L1A1 firearm during its operations, adding that the weapon was recovered by police in 2024 following previous investigations.

The DCI noted that detectives established the links through ongoing forensic analysis and intelligence-led investigations as efforts to identify and apprehend all suspects continue.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the criminal gang linked to the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari is also suspected to have carried out a violent robbery days earlier in which money was allegedly transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile numbers associated with the group.

Detectives are now investigating whether the same gang could be behind a series of violent robberies and attacks reported across Nakuru County and surrounding areas in recent months.

The DCI further noted that forensic experts are continuing with scientific examinations aimed at linking the suspects to the crime scene and strengthening the case ahead of prosecution.
