IEBC Cautions Against Fake Jobs Linked to Upcoming May Polls

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has warned about multiple fraudulent job advertisements circulating online.

In a notice dated May 5, 2026, the commission flagged four fake recruitment notices claiming to be official IEBC job openings.

According to IEBC, candidates should only use its official recruitment portal, where job listings can also be found.

“Beware of fraudulent job advertisements on social media. For accurate and up-to-date information, please visit our official website and our verified social media platforms,” the notice read.

The IEBC noticed showed fake notices posing as recruitment for polling personnel and other election-related positions, targeting applicants ahead of upcoming electoral activities.

The fraudulent adverts used tactics such as false announcements, fake application forms or portals and links to third-party websites unrelated to the commission.

In response to the matter, IEBC urged the public to disregard these notices and to rely solely on verified channels for accurate information.

The further commission warned that applying through unofficial portals could expose job seekers to scams or misuse of personal information.

According to reports, the fraudulent alerts have been circulating as IEBC prepares for upcoming by-elections scheduled for May and July.

The elections are set to be held on Thursday, May 14 for Member of the National Assembly for Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County, and for Members of County Assembly in Porro Ward in Samburu County, and Endo Ward in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.

According to IEBC, polling stations will be open from 6am to 5pm.
