NACADA Cracks Down on Illicit Brews, Confiscates Fake Alcohol in Makueni

National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has seized a large consignment of counterfeit alcoholic drinks in Kilome Market, Mukaa Sub-County, Makueni.

In a statement, NACADA revealed that the operations was led by officers from NACADA in collaboration with a multi-agency team comprising officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Police Service.

The authorities acted on a tip-off from members of the public, where the enforcement team raided the premises where they intercepted a lorry offloading alcoholic beverages and a pick-up vehicle being loaded for distribution.

Three suspects, including the lorry driver, were apprehended at the scene.

During the operation, the authorities recovered thousands of bottles of assorted alcoholic drinks stored in several rooms within the depot.

During the verification exercise, authorities discovered a lorry offloading alcoholic drinks and a pick-up being loaded for distribution.

A thorough search of three storage rooms revealed thousands of bottles of various spirits, including Ferrari ice, People Vodka, and Magic Gin—all bearing counterfeit excise stamps.

Additionally, KRA verification confirmed the stamps were fake, leading to the immediate seizure of the products, which were escorted to the KRA warehouse in Likoni.
