The Kenya Defence Forces are now conducting search-and-rescue operations in Nairobi after more than 100 homes were submerged in Jacaranda, Sisal, and Utawala estates.
Over 650 households have been forced to abandon their homes, with the Kenya Red Cross rescuing three people trapped in floodwaters in Utawala.
Flooding has also been reported in Machakos, Kajiado, Mombasa, Kwale, and Lamu, where fast-moving waters have cut off roads and inundated residential areas.

The Tana River continues to rise dangerously as Masinga Dam reaches full capacity, putting more than 700 households in Abakuyu and Anole villages at immediate risk.
Three people are also feared dead in Nairobi after being swept away by floodwaters, while a landslide near Kolol led to the temporary closure of the Iten–Kabarnet Road.
The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) had earlier issued a warning about rising water levels in the Tana River, alerting residents in low-lying, flood-prone areas and communities along the riverbanks of a high flood risk.
The agency cautioned that continued rainfall could worsen the situation across affected regions.
The warning comes amid ongoing heavy rains that have battered parts of the country, with flash floods in Nairobi following intense downpours on Monday and Tuesday night contributing to the reported fatalities and widespread disruption.
