Sachangwan Crash Disrupts Traffic Flow on Nakuru–Eldoret Highway

Motorists have been warned following a traffic disruption along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret Highway after a lorry was involved in a self-involved accident.

The incident which occured on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the afternoon blocked both lanes at the Sachangwan area and effectively paralysing movement along the key transport corridor.

This has caused significant delays for motorists travelling between the Rift Valley and Western Kenya, with long queues of vehicles building up on both sides of the highway as police and other enforcement agencies moved in to restore order.

Following the incident, the National Police Service (NPS) has since advised temporary diversion routes to ease congestion and maintain traffic flow while clearance operations continue at the scene.

Motorists travelling along the Kericho-Kisumu route have been diverted to use the Njoro-Molo-Nakuru Road as an alternative passage.

Those heading from Nakuru towards Eldoret have been redirected through the Nakuru-Eldama Ravine-Eldoret Road.

Police officers have been deployed on the affected stretch to manage traffic, guide motorists, and enforce lane discipline as efforts intensify to remove the obstructing lorry from the highway.

Meanwhile, efforts are currently ongoing to quickly remove the obstructing loaded lorry.
