On Thursday, April 23, Nyandarua Senator John Methu said he would jail President William Ruto if the United Opposition wins power after the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking in Kitui County, Methu urged Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua to consider appointing him as Interior Cabinet Secretary should they form government.
He further claimed that his first action in office would be to order the arrest of President Ruto, arguing that merely removing him from power would not be sufficient.

Methu alleged that the Head of State should face legal consequences for what he described as atrocities committed against Kenyans.
The senator criticised President Ruto over what he termed as extravagant government spending, citing media reports that suggested the President’s expenditure in his first three years in office had exceeded that of his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, who served two terms.
He also pointed to delays in payments for teachers involved in marking national examinations, questioning the government’s spending priorities.
During the same political engagements, Rigathi Gachagua reportedly tasked Methu with helping to defend the Mountain Region from Ruto’s growing political influence as part of efforts by the United Opposition to expand its support base.
Methu accepted the role, stating that he would not allow the President or his allies to gain political ground in the region.
The Senator has recently attracted public attention following a direct exchange with the President during the funeral of former Olkalou MP David Kiaraho, where he raised concerns over unmet promises to Nyandarua residents while maintaining that he still respected the Head of State.
