Gachagua Fires Back at Duale Over Remarks on Uhuru Kenyatta

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has responded to recent remarks by Health CS Aden Duale concerning former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Sunday, April 19, Gachagua criticized Duale for attacking Kenyatta and for raising claims about the alleged humiliation of President William Ruto during his tenure as Deputy President.

He cautioned against making statements about the treatment of a deputy president, suggesting that such claims should be handled with care.

Gachagua went on to defend Kenyatta’s record, maintaining that the former president did not interfere with Ruto’s role or deploy state machinery against him.

He argued that Ruto was able to serve his full term without obstruction or undue pressure.

On Saturday, April 18, Health CS Aden Duale intensified his criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of meddling in the administration of President William Ruto and of quietly building political alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.

Duale called on Kenyatta to step away from active politics, alleging that he had undermined his successor and was attempting to reassert influence as a key political figure.

He further revisited past tensions within the Jubilee administration, claiming that Ruto faced political pressure and challenges during his tenure as Deputy President.

Additionally, Duale alleged that there had been an unsuccessful effort in 2019 to initiate impeachment proceedings against Ruto, which he said failed due to insufficient backing in Parliament.
