The Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) Board has announced the appointment of Moses Wekesa as the new managing director.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the KAA Board of Directors said Wekesa emerged as the preferred candidate after a rigorous selection exercise.

The exercise aimed at identifying a leader capable of steering the authority’s long-term aviation and infrastructure agenda.

“The KAA Board has appointed Moses Wekesa as Managing Director/CEO following a competitive process,” the statement read.

In his new role, Wekesa is expected to modernise and beautify JKIA, a project that is expected to start soon.

According to the authority, Wekesa will lead this transformation agenda that seeks to place JKIA as one of the modern airports in Africa.

“He will lead KAA’s transformation agenda, including the modernization and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport,” KAA added.

Wekesa brings extensive experience in managing high-impact projects across Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and Africa.

Wekesa also served as the business Development Director at KenGen before his appointment, where he was involved in driving corporate growth initiatives.
