Maureen Waititu deeply appreciates her mother, who she lovingly calls Wamunyiri.
According to her, both her mom and dad play an important role in her life forming a strong support system she is incredibly grateful for.
sharing a heartfelt message to her mother, she reflected on the strength and resilience she has witnessed.

“In the most imperfect situations, I grew up watching my mother face life’s challenges. She endured some really hard times, overcoming countless obstacles to support me, especially because she often had to leave me with relatives to hustle. But let me tell you.”
Maureen further recalls how her mother didn’t receive a formal education instead she prioritized her schooling.
“I always had my uniform and books—education was non-negotiable for her. I’ll never forget when she stormed into my primary school after some students who bullied me took my textbooks. She caused such a scene that I had my books back by the end of the day! That was the Wamunyiri in her!”
She also went ahead to reflect on the pain her mother endured, including the tragic loss of her younger sister, Pauline Njeri, in 2022.
“But what really baffles me is how she held herself together even after losing another daughter (my older sister) in a school bus accident about two years before I was born.”
Maureen also noted that understanding of her mother has deepened, and so has their bond.
“The older I grow, the more I’m given grace to embrace and love her, especially because she missed crucial stages of my life while working hard to provide for me.It’s only recently that I’ve come to understand her pain and battles, fighting for me while struggling with her own losses and life’s many challenges.”
She concluded her statement by acknowledging how happy she is that God has worked his ways in their family moreover noting the love she has for her mother.
“I’m so happy that God is working His way into restoring my beautiful family. I love you, Mom!”
