Police officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, backed by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit and the Operations Action Team, discovered two linked drug networks operating in the Karanja area of Kibra Sub-County in a coordinated covert operation.
Reports indicate that they acted on incredible intelligence, the multi-agency team first targeted a residential house associated with illicit drug trafficking.
The premises which were occupied by 51-year-old Ahmed Juma Wanjiru, were placed under discreet surveillance before officers moved in and conducted a thorough search.
During the operations, they recovered 14 packages of dry plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs, packed in non-woven and ziplock bags in a manner consistent with distribution.
Among other items found were assorted empty packaging bags, two digital weighing scales, and cash totalling Ksh 31,700 believed to be proceeds from the drug trade.
The suspect was apprehended on the spot and is currently in custody awaiting to be arraigned in court.
At the same time, detectives zeroed in on a second residence occupied by Sofia Burhan Marjan.
During the operation, the detectives recovered seven packages of suspected narcotics, additional quantities stored in a basin, and two more packages of rolled substances.
The suspect was nabbed and taken into custody awaiting arraignment in court.
All seized exhibits from both operations were transferred to the DCI Headquarters to be used as evidence.
