Westlands Building Collapse Leaves Workers Trapped in Rubble

At least one person has been reported dead while three others have been rescued after a building collapsed in Westlands.

According to police reports, the building had reached 22 floors, and the upper floor caved in, trapping the four workers who were present at about 8 pm along School Lane.

The Kenya Red Cross also confirmed that four workers were at the site along School Lane, near the Bank of Africa, when the 22-storey building under construction partially collapsed.

Two of them managed escape nhurt, while two remain trapped beneath the rubble as rescue efforts continue.

Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene and have been working through the night to rescue the individuals still missing under the debris.

The Kenya Red Cross further stated that the condition of those trapped has not yet been confirmed.

This comes a day after at least one person lost his life while several others sustained injuries after a building under construction collapsed in Kericho on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

The incident occurred in the Kaptebeswet area, Kipchebor Ward, triggering a rescue operation from the county government.

The Kenya Red Cross also confirmed the incident stating that they had already deployed their rescue team to the scene.
