The government has deployed more than 1,000 police officers to oversee traffic management and security operations during the Safari Rally Kenya set to take place in Naivasha from Thursday, March 12, to Sunday, March 15, 2026.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration said it had activated a multi-agency coordination framework to ensure the safety of rally drivers, teams, spectators, and residents throughout the international motorsport event.

The security operation brings together several government agencies, including the National Police Service, National Government Administration Officers, National Transport and Safety Authority, and the Kenya National Highways Authority.

According to the ministry, the officers drawn from various police formations will be stationed along rally routes, spectator areas, and key access roads in and around Naivasha to maintain security, manage crowds, and support traffic control operations during the rally period.

The Ministry also warned motorists and members of the public to expect temporary traffic management measures and road diversions along designated rally routes and nearby access corridors during the Safari Rally Kenya.

Authorities further urged spectators attending the rally in Naivasha to watch the event from designated spectator zones and strictly follow safety instructions issued by security personnel.

Fans were also advised to avoid accessing restricted rally tracks and other operational areas reserved for rally officials and emergency teams.

The government appealed to rally enthusiasts, residents, and visitors to cooperate with security officers and event organizers, observe traffic guidelines, and follow safety measures to ensure the smooth and safe running of the international motorsport event.

The update comes a day after the announcement of enhanced security and traffic measures.

In a statement, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued alternative routes for motorists to avoid traffic congestion during the Safari Rally Kenya in Naivasha.

Motorists have been advised to use the Scenic, Adventure, and Suswa routes. The Scenic Route runs from Nairobi to Lanet, passing through Flyover (Magumu), Njambini, Ol Kalou, and Dondori.

The Adventure Route also starts from Nairobi, passing through Rironi, Naivasha, Engineer, Ol Kalou, and Dundori before joining Lanet. Another recommended option goes through Thika, Magumu, Ol Kalou, Dundori, and Lanet, while the Ngong–Suswa–Narok–Nakuru highway serves as an additional alternative.

This year’s edition of the Safari Rally is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors, including international drivers, motorsport enthusiasts, and rally fans from across the globe, making traffic management and safety a top priority for authorities.
