The Kenya National Highways Authority has urged motorists to avoid the Mai Mahiu to Suswa to Narok Road (B7) after it was hit by flooding and thick silt deposits near Kedong Ranch, just outside Suswa.
According to KeNHA, they are working tirelessly to clear the affected areas and reopen the road as soon as possible.
“Motorists are advised to avoid driving through flooded areas and to follow the instructions of the police and traffic marshals. Ignoring this advice could lead to being washed away or stuck in the silt deposits,” part of the statement read.
Drivers who have not yet started their journeys have been urged to consider using the Ngong to Suswa Road as an alternative route.
The authority also advised extreme caution on the stretch between Naivasha ICD (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39), where water levels remain high.
The heavy rainfall which have been experienced in Nairobi and parts of the Rift Valley, abf have caused chaos on many roads are set to continue in the next coming days
In Nairobi, areas including Uhuru Park, Mombasa Road, Jogoo Road, Langata Road and Limuru Road have reported flooding where vehicles and pedestrians have been left stranded.
Cars stalled in waterlogged streets have forced drivers to rethink their journeys, while some commuters have turned splashing through puddles into an unplanned adventure.
Motorists have therefore been warned to maintain safe distances, and avoid attempting flooded crossings unless necessary during this period of heavy rainfall.
