The Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie Helen, is scheduled to visit Kenya, the British High Commission announced on Wednesday, February 25.
The visit is part of efforts to promote the role of women in peacebuilding, security, and national development.
According to the High Commission, the visit will focus on three key objectives: strengthening UK–Kenya collaboration on women, peace, and security, supporting women peacebuilders in conflict resolution, and highlighting the role of Kenyan women in leadership and decision-making.

The trip aims to showcase the vital contributions of women in fostering peace and advancing development across communities in Kenya.
It will also provide a platform to champion women’s participation in leadership roles and decision-making processes.
Scheduled ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, the visit reinforces the UK’s commitment to deepening partnerships with Kenya on women, peace, and security, enhancing community resilience, and promoting women’s leadership nationwide.
During her visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh will meet President William Ruto to discuss ongoing collaboration under the UK–Kenya Strategic Partnership.
Her schedule will also include engagements with senior women leaders in the Kenyan government, as well as meetings with women business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The Duchess will further interact with women peacebuilders who are actively involved in community resilience, highlighting the critical role women play in preventing and resolving conflict, bridging divides, and strengthening local stability.
UK Chargé d’Affaires Ed Barnett said the visit underscores the shared commitment between Kenya and the UK to place women at the centre of their partnership.
