Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has alleged that his personal bodyguard and the wife were allegedly arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers under unclear circumstances.
In a statement on X on February 25, 2026 the lawmaker stated that the two had allegedly been assaulted by the same officers who took them into custody.
However, he is not aware of the charges against them.
“I have received deeply troubling news that my security officer, Oliver, and his wife were arrested today and reportedly assaulted by rogue officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). As of now, the charges against them remain unknown”, Babu Owino stated.

“”No Kenyan should be subjected to intimidation, unlawful arrest, or violence by those entrusted to uphold the law. We demand immediate transparency regarding the reasons for their arrest, confirmation of their safety, and that due process be followed in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya”, he added.
This comes days after Babu Owino alleged that his brother-in-law, Geoffrey Adjiki, who also serves on his security detail, was apprehended by six DCI officers on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
According to reports by Babu Owino, moments after being apprehended, Adjiki called hi and informed him that he was being driven to the Nairobi area police headquarters.
However, he never arrived, and his whereabouts became unknown for days.
The MP revealed that he showed up at the headquarters himself but there was no trace of his brother-in-law.
Days later, he was found after allegedly been dropped off in Machakos in the early hours of Friday at around 4 a.m.
